Day 1 The Apartment

She was tired after moving the last box of her books, files and other belongings. She did not really have a lot of things except for her bed, a couple of drawers, a refrigerator and a laptop.

She sat down on the two-seat sofa she got on sale from a store just 2 blocks away from her new apartment. Megan heaved a sigh as she scanned the look of her new place. Surely, the place needed improvement and by the end of the month, she was sure she could finish painting the entire place. Unboxing and organizing will be done tomorrow because for now, she really needs to get a rest before she drives out a few miles tomorrow to meet clients in another city.

She slumped down the bed, without even washing her face or taking off her socks. A few minutes after and she has completely dozed off.

She woke up to the sound of the faucet going off, as if someone turned it on. It took her a minute to realize that she had moved out from her previous apartment so she basically did not have a roommate.

Goosebumps covered her nape and she could feel how cold she was as the reality hit her. It was almost too dark in the apartment if not for the light from the moon.

She hastily looked for the light switch and turned it on. The water pressure in the bathroom and kitchen’s faucet was strong, anyone would wake up from the sound of that turbulent water running. How can this be? Who turned this on?

She quickly turned the faucet off, got her wallet, phone and keys and stormed out of her apartment.

She knocked on Room 101, the room of the caretaker of the building. The moment he opened it, he was shocked to see her pale face.

“Are you okay?”, he asked as he looked at her curiously.

“What’s wrong with room 304? Did anyone die in there? What’s the reason why the other tenant left that place?”

Ha! 10 minutes is up! Well isn’t this fun? Although, I don’t really like why Day 1 has to hint about a thriller kind of story. Not my cup of tea but I admit, this was amusing to write.

I wonder what is in store for Day 2…
